With the rapid expansion of 3D printing and rapid prototyping, additive manufacturing seems inevitable. The footwear industry has been a jumping off point for this technology however it still hasn't taken advantage of the implications that additive manufacturing has to offer. 3D printing has the oppurtunity not only to change the way we make things, but also the way we manufacture and sell them. 3D printing can change the footwear industry from manufactured 99% outside of the country, to being produced super-locally and potentially in-store manufacturing. This project hopes to explore all aspects of additive manufacturing and how we can create a system that can be feasibly implemented into our current industrial platform.
